Flash Blogs

January 20, 2013 midnight

It had to happen, right? Eventually? Flash blogs? I don't mean the animation kind, but just some little quickies, like flash fiction.
You probably don’t even know how you got to this page, and already your attention span is waning. I need to grab it back with a virtual slap in the face, feed you the buzz and send you on your way.
You can chew on it later. Here goes…

Walking the floor over you…
Nervous, anxious. So much so I couldn’t fully appreciate the nice 5-star review of Dragon that appeared this week on Amazon. It wasn't the one I was looking for. You see, a certain author/blogger indicated a review of Dragon would be coming soon. That was weeks ago. I waited and waited. Then, I had an epiphany, which of course I will share with the world – if the damn review ever gets posted. But, it won’t be a flash blog, so you’ll have to wait.

Blame it on my day job…
… for the fact that I can’t make any progress on Red Wolf Rising, rumored to be the last book in the Red Wolf series. Oh, I’m getting in a paragraph here and there, but I don’t have the time to write that I did while I was in school. My day job? The hours are flexible. The people are great. Making too much money. Having too much fun. I need to cut back.

Smashwords is cool…
…where you can choose the format, any format, for your ebook at the time of purchase. And of all the venues I’ve used to publish electronically, they have by far the best documentation to walk you through the formatting process. But it takes a lot of work. And they take forever to review your submissions for premium status. But… The Draculata Nest is available. Dragon will be ready soon. Click on the Smashwords link at the bottom of this post for the direct route to the product page. If you’re browsing, better turn off the adult filter. It ain’t for the kiddies, you know.

I will not blog about my weight…
I will not blog about my weight…
I will not blog about my weight…
I will not blog about my… Oh, jeez, I’m doing it anyway. I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow for a routine physical. He’s gonna be pissed at me. Hell, I’m pissed at myself. But, hey, I have a nice little “shelf” to rest my guitar now when I play - my belly.

A new character reveals her personality…
I love it when that happens. Remember the scene in Draculata where Nicole said she was afraid she’d get shit all over the shirt Danielle persuaded her to wear? That’s when her character took off when I was writing that book. This week it happened in a scene I’m writing for Red Wolf Rising. Ying Hua, the Chinese omega wolf who has been assigned the task of guiding the… Wait. Oh no, you don’t. No way am I providing spoilers. Y’all can read all about it… someday.

And the new covers are on the shelves…
My writings are designed for electronic media. I want my books to be something you can get fast and cheap. Pulp fiction without a carbon footprint. But there’s this wonderful little indie bookstore in Charlotte, NC – Park Road Books. (The in Charlotte links at the bottom of my posts take you to their Web site.)

I have to go by PRB now and then. It’s the ambience of the place, a rich and eclectic mix jammed into a very small space. The staff sometimes posts little mini-reviews over the displays because they don’t just work there – they read the stuff. And they’re always happy to talk to you about what they’ve read. Now, you can go there and thumb through a copy of The Draculata Nest or The Dragon of Doughton Park and truly appreciate the Ray DeLotell cover art in a way the thumbnail pic on a web site can’t provide. I highly recommend it. And sometime in the spring – date isn’t confirmed yet – I’ll be doing a book signing there! Y’all come.

Here's all the ways to get my books...You can purchase my books through the following venues…
